Transfer rumour dictionary

This silly season has begun, and journalists are now stealing a living by using the dartboard method to make up transfer stories. I though it would be helpful to write some translations to some of their rumours.

"...weighing up a big for" - been seen by a scout
"...joined the race to sign" - No one will actually make a bid
"Everton want [player]" - Everton can't afford [player]
"...are prepared to offer £x for [player]" - but they won't
"have been put on alert after [player] says he wants to leave" - [Player] wants to stay
"...are interested in [player" - a club scout went to watch his team mate
"...lining up a bid for [player]" - barely aware of the player's existence

If anyone can think of any other translations, let us know.

"Everton poised to swoop" - desperate for someone else to come in and make a bigger offer than us.

"delegation has been sent to" - Get stuck into the duty free.

"swap deal" - We're making it sound interesting but really its just a jarg rumour and won't happen.
"tracking" - said something nice about him in the press once.
"a club insider reveals" - we made it up.
"transfer battle" - Only they want them, but we'll leak other names to the press to up the asking price.
"sensational summer swoop" - alliteration because we can, and it sounds better than Spurs to transfer said jarg player.

Sources suggest = Someone else made up and I am spreading it
....has long been known to be interested in x = I made this up 4 years ago and will continue to repeat it every year until it becomes true or he retires.
