Transfer record broken again

a question for all those who've had all the answers over the last few weeks/months.
are you in debt ?
it wouldn't suprise me if you were as the way you've wanted the club to lash it around beggars belief, and if you spend like that yourselves then you must be.
if your not , then it will be through living within the constraints of your budget/ income, so why ask the club to do what you dont do in your own life.

with city getting a direct hit from a rainbow at eastlands it is quite a strong possibility that a team will be overtaken that is in the top 4, through shear financial muscle. which leaves the top 3, so are you saying we can aim for that with the names that have been demanded ? we dont need to spend the vast amounts that have been talked about to maintain our position,
the arse and the arseholes will be brickin' themselves at the prospect of no c.l. hard to say who it would affect the most tbh, but over the longterm i would say arsenal as the stadium debt will be around for a while although i'd say its more likely the rs will be the ones who drop out and chase it with the cheque book.

2 million spent for a club that finished fifth in the richest league in the world.

summer 07

yakubu 11.25
baines 6
jagielka 4
jutkiewicz 0.4
wessels free
gravesen loan

that money had to come from somewhere, it wasnt covered by the beattie 4 + naysmith 1 cash.

how far were we away from breaking the sky 4 last season and where were we expected (by whom???) to finish - where did we actually finish?

who are these other 4 prem sides and who says they are more likely than us?

we have signed 5 players, its not just one.

moyes has signed the most expensive player of his career - keep that in mind - moyes has signed him, a big money player (and 6'4" as well :D )

It does do my head in being so negative about everton but its hard not to be .........

We finished fifth last year and we were not a million miles away from forth, regardless of where we expected to finish at the start of last season. this preseason was the ideal oppurtunity to bridge the gap even more...... but we haven't, we've let it grow more and the likes of villa city pompey and even spurs (even though they've had a bad start) have increased the quality of their squads.

I really hope i'm wrong but the players should enjoy europe this year as i cant see us qualifying again until something changes .....

i.e massive investment

why didnt they beat us to fifth last season?

give us your perspective on the four teams you have mentioned.

please can you teach me what the phrase "increased the quality of their squads" means please.

AJ 10.5
consider yourself owned.
Oh yes, a massive two million spent this year. Well done, Everton. That'll make Manchester United worried.

Villa have spent 40 million, City 80. Even bottom-half teams have spent more than us. Even clubs like Hull, Stoke, Bolton, Wigan and WBA spent more.

Kel I agree that its unrealistic to expect massive signings in our current situation,But every window lately it seems like we wait until the last minute and then charge around like demented rabbits. If Kenwright had said look we cant afford to buy the amount of bodies needed so we will just do our best and make replacing Carsley with a quality player a priority then OK he would still get some stick but no-where near what he gets when he tells these stupid lies like watch this space and the when I saw the players Dave wants ect it raises fans hopes and when it as always comes to nothing .Fortress Fund ,Dock stadium ect then the fans react.we really need a more professional approach to the transfer window I know other teams have beat the clock deals but ours are every time and one day soon he wont be lucky and we will have no-one and all the venom then will make this seem like a picnic. people say how do we know its Bills fault well to be fair there should be an internal inquiry because some one or some thing is wrong and needs fixing call me a defeatist but after City's change over I think the top five is out of our reach this season that will not stop me going and supporting the guys in our shirts who-ever they are but the bull [Poor language removed] dose make me wonder if its worth all the upset

two million more than you admitted earlier - hence :- OWNED !

you mention man ure, they have only signed berbatov and made tevez permanent (allegedly) but follow the logic... they didnt need full squad improvement, just like we dont... but hull, stoke, bolton, wigan and west brom all need full squad improvement.

villa and city have spent, but neither started from the overall quality position we were in.

and now we have improved. felliani is a first team regular.

how many seasons have we been able to make multiple starting eleven signings?

the better we get, the higher the quality of the player required to improve the first eleven. and quality costs big cash.

reality check time.

Needed an attacking midfielder, we've still got slightly less than we should have. Only hope really is that Castillo turns out to be REALLY good and Moyesy turns the Big Fella™ and Castillo into a straight up centre mid duo of death. Then it won't matter if Ossie's as strong as a wafer, he can just cruise around being intricate. What we really needed was Fellaini AND a Moutinho-type creative player that's better than or at least competition to Osman. Sounds like Moyes actually wanted to do this too;

“In an ideal world, I would have liked to add another of his type but that wasn’t to be. With a bit of time to settle in, I’m sure he will prove to be worth the wait.”

I reckon we had about 25 million to spend with the AJ money, wanted to get Fella and Moutinho (e.g. 15 for Mout, 10 for Fellaini), couldn't afford both because Sporting wanted 835million for Moutinho. So we ended up paying a little bit more for Fellaini at the last minute because he was more important in terms of the type of player we needed and because we could actually afford him without crippling ourselves. At least, that's a legitimate champ man scenario.

Hence why I'm still so gutted we didn't get Obi Vickel. That would've made it a satisfactory transfer window, for me even with Fella it's still a hmm.

have a quick round of applause for "big fella".

/quick round of applause

dont let it go to your head.

obi vickel? or obi mikel?

moutinho is 20 or 21, and will still be available with another year of his contract run down. good thing is, we dont have many players in the 28, 29, 30 years old bracket, which means the current squad has some longevity in it.

I got carried away. Obi Vickel was a mistaken attempt at humour, I take it back and I apologise. And I clean your shoes.

im trying to understand it now, was it a play on words with something sounding like 'fickle'?

this is torture, i need an explanation.

and anyway, i have slippers on.

Are they as good as my brand new Asda slippers, which were purchased for the princely sum of £2.
