Tottenham Hotspur

What I never understood was why Pochettino never sold players after getting to the champions league final - to reinvest.

Needed to refresh the squad.

We didn’t have anyone to sell. His team was built around a core of 16 players who were absolutely integral. The rest of the players tha we would have happily sold were pure guff like Vinny j - we could give him away.

That’s because the summer before the CL final we went the whole summer without buying anyone

I'd love to win anything to be honest. But this is part of the reason you lot are so deluded. 5 league cups is the equivalent of one title. The Uefa Cup and Europa league are/were second tier competitions. Again, I'd love to win anything but it's nowhere near a European Cup. If Arsenal were in the Europa league last season they'd have won it at a canter. You lot happened to play the worst United team in most people's living memory (and I'm not exaggerating).

This stale guff again - people saying we were lucky to play Bodo in the semi - the same Bodo that 12 months later beat Man City, Atletico Madrid and knocked out Inter Milan.

We beat Frankfurt in the quarters who won the Europa only 2 years before, we played Rangers who had been in the final 2 years before. We drew with Roma who had been in the final 12 months before and played Galatasaray who made CL knockouts.

We also finished 4th in the CL group stage - we have always been well suited to European football, I don’t know why but we just take to it.

You lot are deluded. Seriously. Obviously have to beat who's in front of you to win things. But other than the FA Cup (which is still third down the pecking order of titles/European cups) you don't win top tier stuff very often. Last time was in the 1960s.

I think every side thats either at the top or not far off has to refresh.

Thats what weve seen over the years with certain stars being sold to reinvest.

Freshen things up.

Of 16 players, someone could have been moved on and a different player could have come in.

A lot has gone wrong over the recent years for Spurs. The positive you have is that its obvious now the squad needs a massive amount of player recycling.

If you stay up then theres a quality core of young players:

Souza
Bergvall
Gray
Sarr
Simons
Odobert
Tel

1/3 of the squad sorted.

Sell a bunch of the rest and focus on top quality with experience to come in and take them on to the next level of development.

Some of your existing players are quality but injured. You're probably not too far off bouncing back.

I think your next 2 games will save you or seal your fate.

You won’t, you rarely beat us in the last 2 decades and Richy will be busy polishing the only club medal of his career
The way you lot are playing half your players could've cried off and be chatting to other clubs during that last game.
They dont look like a team in a relegation scrap and the fans don't sound like it either.
The longer you think you're too good to go down the more likely it becomes imo.

You lot don’t win trophies full stop - 30 years ago now and it doesn’t look like changing anytime soon. Will be sad seeing lads drawing pensions having never seen Everton lift a trophy or play in the CL group stage

Marty I have been on here long enough to remember your fellow Evertonians taking the mick out of you in your relegation run ins

Gray, Bergvall, Vuskovic, Danso and Ben Davies are the only players I would be loathed to sell.

Everyone else can go if the price is right and I won’t shed a tear - either not good enough, injury prone or not committed to the club.
