His imprisonment on contempt of court charges prompted a vigorous international Twitter campaign, with 2.2m tweets being posted using the hashtag #freetommy between May and October.

An analysis conducted for the Guardian by the London-based Institute for Strategic Dialogue found that more than 40% of the tweets came from the US, 30% from the UK and other significant volumes from Canada, the Netherlands and nine other countries.

A separate study of about 600 Twitter accounts, believed to be directly tied to the Russian government or closely aligned with its propaganda, found significant numbers had tweeted prolifically in Robinson’s defence.

Funding -

A Philadelphia-based thinktank, the Middle East Forum (MEF), acknowledges it has spent about $60,000 (£47,000) on Robinson’s legal fees and demonstrations staged in London earlier this year. A senior MEF executive has been closely involved in preparations for this weekend’s march, though the thinktank said she was there in a personal capacity.

A US tech billionaire, Robert Shillman, financed a fellowship that helped pay for Robinson to be employed in 2017 by a rightwing Canadian media website, the Rebel Media, on a salary of about £5,000 a month.

A small Australian rightwing group, Australian Liberty Alliance, says it has helped fund Robinson, but did not disclose how much.

A New York City-based thinktank, the Gatestone Institute, has published a succession of articles supporting Robinson’s cause.

Its difficult to have much sympathy for someone revealing a sensitive address having their own address revealed!

I don’t like SYL at all but I find it hard to argue with you there

It's that the lad on twitter gave general, publicly available about a well known "political figure". That political figure (or little scrote, whichever you feel is a more accurate description) gave the full address of and turned up outside the house of the lad's parents, supported by two of his mates. He then reportedly blackmailed the lad to shut his Twitter down or he'd release the address online. The lad backed down and deleted his Twitter but the address was published anyway.

Ergo, Tommy Robinson is a grade A gobshite.

I despise Robinson/SYL , I think he peddles hate and regularly grooms children in the manner of Muslim extremists he claims to oppose . I was obviously delighted when his fascists failed to turn up at the weekend at their march i Liverpool again this city has a history of rightly opposing that kind of hate .

My point was really, and I know only briefly what I’ve seen here , if somebody is posting his address etc online there is only one reason for that , then it’s hard to become too exercised if the same happens. I appreciate somebody saying it’s freely available online , pretty much everybody’s is freely available that’s how people get it . It’s a question of how hard it is to find and how easy posting it makes it for other people .

Posting an address has only one intention in my opinion it’s to allow others to intimidate and SYL turned up and did that to him , that’s despicable to hardly surprising. My point certainly wasn’t sympathy for a mouth breathing hate peddler .

Absolutely no argument with your last line , I’ve tried to give my reasons below. I don’t know all the details and certainly The man is a thug and a bully but I’m not sure this ‘generally available info’ I find that a bit of a cop out. You can find my address but I’d be furious if you posted it on here .

Turning up is bullying and intimidation but what was the original twitter poster hoping would happen if he posted , as I understand , Robinson’s details ? I just don’t feel comfortable with that , that was my point I suppose , however badly I’ve worded it .

My brief looking at a post by a poster , who I’ve argued with at length about Robinson was that it seemed somebody has posted somebody’s details and address online and then somebody else had asked for sympathy when it’d caused a reaction. It just read a little like somebody doing something and when something he wanted to happen to somebody else happened to him there was moaning about it . If I’ve got that wrong then perhaps I’ll rethink it but that at face value seems a bit hypocritical, to me , is all .

Sorry mate . I don’t think I wanted to quote you , I was just trying to respond quickly to a misconception I’m some kind of SYL supporter.

On his funding it’s actually terrifying although not unsurprising . Bless him though, best that some more people send him some more cash quick for whatever made up fighting fund he needs , added to his actual wages funded by whatever overseas Nutjob he’s on to this week.

I got into quite a heavy conversation in the pub after the Watford game about the sterling abuse and a lad brought lukaku up . comparing the stick he took and the general perception of his laziness amongst other things , when you start to break it down it’s an interesting but worrying debate .

I think there's an honest conversation to be had about some of the attitudes towards Lookman, makes you consider just how ingrained is the issue in all of us
