Whats happened to the energy he showed last year? Was always buzzing around. This year he has been strolling around think he has forgotten what got him in the team in the first place

And when Tom loses the ball, he tries so hard to win it back, he risks the early yellow card. As said here earlier, this is all experience for him.
I'd be gutted if he loses the bit of snide in his game however.

I've no problem with a loss of form, but the lack of effort was more concerning. Every Chelsea midfield player had too much time as we continually backed away rather than engaging them on halfway. Probs concerned about the lack of pace in the central back line

A 19 year old (just) lad holding his own in central midfield is fantastic. He will have the odd bad game against the best in the business Kante. It will do his development no harm as long as he learns from it.
