Nothing wrong with Davies, it’s just that his learning curve is one flat straight line ever since he broke into first team.

If you compare his development with dcl, holgate, Kenny under the same difficult situation the team faces, it’s no excuse for him to be stagnant.

Someone need to sit down with him and define his role and stick to that path of development, and of course he is too light weight. He can be thrown off balance simply by sticking an arm out, never mind shoulder to shoulder challenge which he had 0 chance of winning.

DCL and Kenny will both turn 21 in March, Holgate is already 21 - Davies at the end of the season will still be 19 mate, he also plays centre mid - all 3 of the others where 'developed' in their first 15-20 games out in wider positions which is the usual path for younger players most managers choose.

So yeah i would say there is 2 reasons why there is reason he is struggling and not progressing yet, age and position.

This is utterly deranged. The only reason people are shredding Davies and lauding the likes of Holgate and Kenny is that our team is built purely to defend right now, and everyone from the midfield up is suffering for it. The two young lads will find it a lot easier to keep clean sheets in this current regime than Davies will to express himself which, ultimately, is what all the bedwetters will judge him on.

We played 5 at the back against West Brom, a team who have scored less than everyone else this season apart from Swansea. Keep that in mind before you make JJK your new messiah because, very soon, you will turn on him too.

Precisely.

It's almost as if no-one is allowed to be off form anymore without the chance of being shot at dawn.
It's even worse when you consider that Tom is still only a young player who is developing his game, but is being treated like a seasoned pro.

Arguably, it would be beneficial for him to have time out of the first XI (and possibly the squad) to refresh himself, rebuild and focus on training.

However due to a depleted squad, he is unfortunately being left in a dubious position where he's liable for criticism and now they're on his back.

I like Davies but form has been a problem this season. I cannot recall a decent game from him and it is not productive to keep a player in the team if he is offering nothing to it. Needs dropping for a little while. Give Vlasic a run out in his position and see how he copes. Can he do any worse?

The talent is there no doubt but really think he needs sometime off but then again if the like in McCarthy and Besic would never get fit or good enough, Gana and Ronney are out then Baningime is the one left aside from the off form Davies along with starter Schneiderlin.

Yes they are allowed to be off form. The concern grows when he has been off form all season. Just needs time out to sort himself out. Absolutely no point in putting him in the team on the form he is showing. He seems a yard behind play and is dispossessed ever so easy and run past easily also. Needs resting for his sake and the teams sake.
