You do realize judging him negatively based on one poor game is the same as others judging him based on one good game, right? You also realize people do watch premier league games outside of just Everton, right? He’s a very good right back already with an extremely high ceiling.
I realise all of those things mate. But here's the thing. Very few people on here, perhaps only one that springs to mind, were saying much about him prior to when we played Palace a few weeks ago. During the match thread that game, and in a number of threads since including the
Seamus Coleman thread, there's probably been upward of 50 shouts from people on here to buy him. So I don't actually believe my post was too far off the mark.
But my post was more aimed at another issue I have. Which is this. When we watch our own young players we tend to focus on the things that they do wrong, the errors that they make, rather than the positives they bring. When we watch other teams young players we tend to notice the good things they do, because we aren't that arsed about their mistakes because they don't affect us directly. Which is why I made that comment about him being crucified on here. The internet is full of forums slagging off young players.
Also, I wasn't judging the lad negatively in my post. If you ever bother to read my posts on young players you would know I am very tolerant of their bad games which they will inevitably have from time to time as they learn the game. At the same time I don't go overboard about them either when they are hailed as the next big thing.. As it happens I do actually rate Wan Bissaka quite highly, I just don't think he is that much superior to Kenny or that he has a much greater ceiling than him. He is a different type of player and is certainly more athletic which is why he catches the eye. But calls for him to replace
Seamus Coleman after just a handful of senior games are wide of the mark for me.
If we had him now, and he played like he did on Sunday, he would get as much stick in here as Kenny and Holgate do whenever they have a bad game.
