But do you mean with regard McCarthys "lack" of offensiveness?

I think he's a decent option anywhere, he's a good player, but if we're going to have Barks in one of the two attacking positions I think we'd benefit from a more creative player as a partner. Likewise I'm not sure about him as a lone holding midfielder, he doesn't really like the responsibility. His best position's in a midfield pair.
