Today's football.

Problem is when the game's going full tempo along with the ref only seeing it once I can understand why he gave a red.
Same with Gibson's red.

They don't get the luxury of seeing again and in slow motion, dangerous play but probably just a yellow.
Another issue I have is the fact a lot of us are having debate over it, twitter etc. The rules have to be clarified, same goes for others rules in football as well.

Not a sending off. He has to go for that ball and has no idea where Arbeloa is until it's happened. Game was ruined then and there. Can't understand how that can be interpreted as the correct decision. Yellow at worst, it should have been.

I wouldn't have sent him off there TBH. The lad went down like a bag of ****e. But, you can't really argue much with it. It's his interpretation of it. All I'm saying is intent makes no odds.

It just makes you think about what they thought they saw and why etc when they make those decisions. Tackles happen at break neck speed and quick judgements are made. But something like that just seems to make you think the ref wants the attention.

The same with the West Ham ones for us and them. It seems like there's agenda's been given to refs to watch and act on certain things randomly through out a season.

It's the inconsistency that gets on most people's nerves. They should have to explain decisions after the game.

Agree totally.

The way red cards are handed out so liberally these days is just depressing.

Is the right answer

They do get told to crack down on certain things. They send circulars round the clubs telling them X,Y,Z won't be tolerated anymore. People also forget our games a hell of a lot more physical than most of these European refs will see most weeks and first impressions usually count. 99 times out of a 100 the decision is made within a second.

That ref took a few minutes to make his decision to be fair to him so in his eyes at least he was sure he was right.

i hate all this red for dangerous play bollocks. Unless they stamp on their spine intentinally or try to kick their face off it shouldn't be a red. If these "men" are too scared to get a kick or two in their career instead of £80k a week then that's their decision.
