I dont get how Madrid are big favourites for this. They've been left for dead domestically: 16 points behind Barca and just 5 wins in the last 10 games. United have the comfort of knowing the PL is under control and that, unlike Madrid, the CL isn't the last desperate hope of a successful season.
Probably because they have a much better team. And Ronaldo, Di Maria, Ozil and Benzema are all attackers. Their roles are overwhelmingly concentrated on the offensive side of the game.
League form really doesn't connect greatly with CL form, as evidenced by Bayern Munich's progress last season despite Dortmund dominating the Bundesliga. Or Chelsea, who won it and were awful in the league.
