I'm sure this happens with other countries as well

When Nacional won the Copa Libatores, most of the country was rooting for them

That´s because there´s about 3million people in Uruguay. In Brazil and Argentina the supporters are much more tribal and heartily partake in Schadenfreude.

Basel remain the best argument in favour of Michel Platini's UEFA.

Their current team is the best ever team from the swiss league and it's almost entirely down to him bringing in the champions path to make it easier for good teams in bad leagues to qualify for the Cl group stages and so improve.

Copenhagen, Bate, Shakhtar, Vikoria Plzen, Shamrock Rovers and Celtic are also decent arguments for him but Basel are the most impressive.

They are quite fun to watch.

Anyone else watching the Juve match?

Steed malbranque has had himself a good match for Lyon.

Looks like there is a great chance of a Benfica - Porto happening in Europe... Yes please. For those who don't remember, back in 2011 the semi finals were Porto-Villarreal and Benfica-Braga but Braga beat Benfica of course. Still an all Portuguese final but not really the same, although it would have been hilarious had Braga won the thing.

Talksport asking for call ins on whether Arsenal fans would prefer to have Martinez as their manager to Wenger, should be interesting

Watched AZ - Benfica in my local. AZ played like we have a lot this season. Dominated large parts of the game but lacked the quality up top to convert their chances. Benfica were typical snidey Portuguese. Nice finish for their goal although the chance was set up by a horrible blunder from an AZ defender.

If we were still in the market for a right winger I'd have that Roy Beerens. He's class.

That's funny because they only had 2 Portuguese in their starting 11. I'd take the Benfica wingers (Gaitan / Rodrigo) over Beerens any day btw.

If only we could afford Rodrigo.

I'm listening to it tonight, they're actually being nice about us. I hate when people start bigging us up though, I guarantee we'll lose on Sunday now.

i like the europa league NEA - should probably watch more of it tbh, serves up so many shocks and all with big teams playing their best teams.

UEFA have tried their best to make it seem utterly worthless and undermine it though.
