Call me unpatriotic like, but I tend to route against any English team that's playing in Europe as soon as it comes to the knockout rounds, unless their playing some team who plays anti football or is generally dislikeable.
Can't cheer for Chelsea or City as their loaded with placcy fans and players who primarily moved their for the paychecks, and well John Terry and Ashely Cole - nuff said their i think. Both effectively bought their place in europes elite and have since tried to re invent themselves as clubs with a real history of achievement, when their just the playthings of rich arabs and russians
The rs - rather trim my pubes with a hedge-cutter than ever cheer for them
United - Get sick of the media telling me i should want them to win - still remember when they stopped us doing the 'treble' in 85 and ITV showed their parade and a special on them winning the cup, and we got a 5 min section on the regional news like, plus now they have moyes etc they can go burn
Arsenal - only team that it's possible to route for imo out of that lot, but started to annoy lately by wenger's pained expressions, plus lived on that unbeatable's year way too long, they don't actually play that attractive footy compared to a lot of teams - no matter what the media try to tell people
Spurs - a club that thinks its above the eufa and gets knocked out without being bothered doesnt deserve to ever be rooted for, be it in eufa or CL.

Teams like Chelsea, United and City you probably spend most of the season wanting them not to win (unless it benefits us or hinders 'them') so I find it difficult to will them to win European games against foreign teams with exotic sounding players.
Fair enough if your a kid but as adults you should be able to find a better reason to like a side e.g. Zlatan, playing a sweeper, players with boss beards.

Im sure im not alone here in saying that i honestly don't give a [Poor language removed] about any english sides in european competition, bar Everton.
Infact there was a time when i openly cheered a Madrid goal against the likes of utd. I personally loved Chelsea losing to Basel this season and laughed my tits off yesterday when Luiz scored an oggy. I want them to fail and i don't give a crap. Two night ago, i wanted Munich to wipe the floor with Utd. I loved Utd tactics and how they set up to play Bayern, as this was how most teams set up against them for the better part of 20 years.
It screamed ' we know we're crap at the minute, this is the only option ' and i found it amusing.
