Understand what you're saying. I'm the same, I'm NEA about England but I would be if they played decent footy and they had the players I mentioned above.

They wouldn't get relegated if they were good enough.

I agree. Coaches here are awful as well as scouts IMO. My mate played for City, United. Played with the likes of Ravel Morrison and that reece Wabara. Had loads of ability but got released because he was too small. I don't understand how you would produce good coaches though myself.

Koff lad.

They are though.

If they went into the championship, are you telling me they wouldn't learn more playing Leeds, Millwall away? Come on Danny lid.

Plenty of them do play against these teams when they go out on loan.

It doesn't work on any level for me. It takes away the romance of the game for what would be very limited if any added value for the young players.

The FA would have to think of something. Sending young people who would like to be coaches to learn their trade in countries like Germany and Spain could be a start, doubt that would happen. It won't be an overnight thing, not at all. Look at Spain, Germany, Belgium etc, were pretty quiet not so long ago until these younger lads that had been brought through hit the first team with a few of the good, experienced heads in the squad.

Gary Lineker made a good point about English weather though. He said as a kid playing football he would run around loads to keep warm whereas in hotter countries you don't want to be running in hot weather, you want to be passing it around and playing tidy football. I'm not saying control the weather, not at all. Just taking younger lads away for a lot of climate increased training, getting them playing football could be something.

I'm not trying to say I have the answers I'm just saying you can't rule out England making any young stars. A shift needs to be made though.

great point to be fair lid

Was watching match of the day extra or whatever it's called before the cup final yesterday and there was a journalist on or something who pretty much summed up the problem with our youth development. On the topic of Luke shaw he said along the lines of "man city, man utd, arsenal, Chelsea or the kopites should throw millions at Southampton to get him because he'll be England's left back for 10/15 years". Does it not cross peoples minds that maybe the best club for him is the one that developed him in the first place?

I would say it is getting better but it takes a lot of work at club level and through the FA grass roots systems.

What we need is more focus on clubs developing academies at all levels, you look at Southampton and they have some superb players coming through the ranks.

You say have rules, that is fair enough but do you think the rules will be there to suit English football or to suit the big clubs. The problem is not with individuals it is with the FA pandering to the rich clubs and this will not stop with the development of 'B' teams.

The FA need to help the lower level clubs not hinder them by sticking another 20 teams in the league system.

Plus we have some players that certainly have potential. Tom Ince, Stones, Barkley, Wilshere (thats right I said it), Shaw, Chambers, Lallana, Zaha, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Berahino, Will Hughes.

All with a lot of potential and it is about getting the best of them through the right coaching but not at the expense of clubs but using those clubs.

Played in Bold are who I agree that can make it and will be useful.

Shaw = Don't really watch Southampton but when I do he does nothing wrong. Reminds me of Flipe Luis. Just a solid LB.
Stones = Won't be good for England with the football we play now.
Lallana = Same as big john
Barkley = Obvious reasons
Wilshere = Obvious reasons (someone needs to tell him stop falling over though.

What badge you on just out of curiosity? I was going to do quite a few myself and see how decent I am lol

Got my level 2 and level 2 youth development. My advice would be to not bother doing level 1 unless you're going to do your 2. Level 1 you just turn up and pass so it's like your year 9 SATs results. No one really cares and everyone's got one.

No. Just like Ross here. The drooling big heads will be pushing up anyone with a spark of talent to the big clubs. It's in their interest, and really all they understand.

Southampton would have a ludicrously good side if they hadnt sold those players. Or if not good, at least a ludicrously fast one.

Back to yesterdays discussion, Does anyone know what kind of pitches they use over in other countries for lower leagues? Are they s*** like they are in England? What about kids footy? I'd ask my mate but hes not replying so maybe someone here knows who lives abroad

Played on a few school tours over in Spain and it was all 3G for kids, which is something I think we should definitely be looking to move towards in the winter months.
