Chelsea fans singing one di matteo
Surely they would have gotten over it by now?
Have we got over Howard Kendall (Mark I)?
Di Matteo won them the biggest prize of all. It's a shambles he got sacked.
It's close to the truth, tho'. I live outside of England and have met many football fans from all over the world. Only the knowledgeable have heard of Everton. Everyone, even non-football fans, have heard of Liverpool Football Club.
My heart sinks everytime I have this very common conversation:
foreigner: "so who you support?"
me: "Everton"
f: "who?"
me: "Everton!"
f: "where they play? in England?"
me: "in Liverpool"
f's eyes light up in recognition: "oooh! you support Liverpool!"
me is tempted to slap f in the face, but instead gamely educates the foreigner in our great club.
It's our curse I'm afraid, lads.
Do we sing Kendall's name though?
I wasn't even born when Kendall was managing.
These types of comments always reminds me of a match I went to in Zagreb, not Dynamo but FC Zagreb their poorer neighbours.
We were taken into this guys office to buy some scarves and ended up talking football as you do, this one guy asks the obvious question so I tell him and his face lights up and says 'Everton are born, not manufactured, I hate Liverpool'. I stood there in shock wondering if a big man hug was out of order, it turned out it wasn't.

Seems a bit rude actually
Rafael has them on the verge of another European final and they are still chanting for the man he replaced
