Really is a farce isn't it? Come the end of the season, a decision like that last night could be the difference between staying up or being relegated. The financial implication being enormous.
OK, it's sport. Officials get it as wrong as the players but we were led to believe that VAR would help assist officials to get more decisions right. Sadly this isn't the case. Wolves have suffered more than their share of these poor decisions. Who can forget the nonsense of cameras not working at Anfield?
There is more spotlight on games now with multiple TV angles so it is bemusing and puzzling to see how some of these decisions are being interpreted. It speaks to cronyism and officials protecting each other rather than making the right calls. Our disallowed goal at the weekend being another example. That was a good goal every bit as much as Wolves should have had a penalty.
I don't know the answer to this but to me, it strikes me that anywhere else on the pitch free kicks are given for fouls but the criteria is different in the penalty box. I just don't know why more pens aren't given? There is obstruction going on at literally every single corner taken so why isn't that called? Last night, we saw a MUFC player manhandling a Wolves player at a corner. He wasn't even looking at the ball, just trying to block the run and in doing so, had his hands on the Wolves player. That's a pen in my book... never given though is it?
I don't want to say it's corruption as it is still a sport but you seriously have to question why that wasn't given last night. I can guarantee if that's at the other end and in favour of Utd, it's a pen. No question.
