Oversimplification of the issue there to be honest - if we put it as black and white as that, Real Madrid bought him for €3-4m and he'd not had a lot of good games anywhere (as well as rotten attitude/training) prior to being loaned to Arsenal and doing well there before they paid 40m for him.

I'd imagine if we'd loaned Sigurdsson in for 6 months we wouldn't have paid his full price either.
