£85 million spent (and another £60 odd million in talent on loan in Gomes and Zouma) and we are 11th behind midtable gash.

Appoint midtable managers get midtable results.

Do you even remotely understand what youre typing about?

Youre comparing a new manager, new system, new players with half a decent team to settled sides and settled systems...

Over and over and over again all over the forum...every day.

Why?

So, in summary...

- Reds, as expected, see off Wolves away and record another clean sheet in the process. No injury concerns to any of their key players;
- City, previously unbeaten at home, lose to Palace who hadn't previously registered an away win so far this season. Now 4 points behind reds;
- Chelsea, previously unbeaten at home, lose to Leicester who leapfrog us in the table. Chelsea now 11(!) points behind the reds;
- Watford, away to West Ham, win to leapfrog us in the table;
- Bournemouth, at home to Brighton, win to also leapfrog us in the table.

That about sum it up? Love footy me.

This is bang on. I know there’s rivalry there and all that, but I truly don’t understand the level of fume at the prospect of them winning something.

Don’t get me wrong, if they pipped US to the league, I’d obviously be fuming, but chance would be a fine thing...

Both of my brothers, my best mate and even my eldest lad are reds, so at least I’ll get to bask in their glow for a bit.
Nice to see I'm not the only one who thinks that. My son is a Spurs fan (as I was before I saw the light) so tomorrow is a special day for me (and it'll be my birthday too)

Everton Christmases - you can't beat em.

You keep missing a key point, top level managers don't want to manage us.

Says who?

Which top manager have EFC approached who has knocked us back?

None. Zilch. Nada. Zero.

Koeman was our No1 target when Martinez was sacked

We were toying with Unsworth and Alladyce (jesus)

And Silva has been number 1 choice since we courted him last season when he was at Watford.

Not once have EFC being on record of having approached a top manager and being turned down.

I think this is the first time @davek will be wrong. The De Bruyne injury, Mahrez missing a pen, the wolves handball goal, Pickford, absolutely everything has gone for them. There’s no way they can’t win it when so many factors are in your favour.

I may well be wrong. That result was a kick in the balls today.

However, there is a long way to go and if City win the home game agianst Liverpool it's on a knife edge again.

Liverpool look very hungry for it. But if City can stick on their heels for the rest of the winter there's going to be some serious questions asked of Klopp and his team.

Could have been worse, West Ham and Watford could have drawn and we could have been 12th!

I would rather have Allardyce back than see the RS win the premier league. We would never hear the end of it. I am praying that something goes wrong for them over the next few months and they go on a bad run.

Also praying that we somehow manage to pull a win out of the bag tomorrow so we can slide right back up the table again. Table doesnt look pretty at the moment, we are going in the complete wrong direction.

If the RS beat them though it's probably over!

Bernard gomes Walcott siggurdson alone aren't unproven and 3 of them cost or will cost us over 100 million.

Walcott was just a sub at Arsenal and his career was on a downward spiral, Bernard did well in Russia but that's Russia. Gomes had been a good player then went into melt down so you could argue that they were risky buys/loan. You need more than 1 or 2 proven players you need 7 or 8 and they will carry the poorer players (Phil Neville at Man Utd for example). We still need plenty and with the prices of proven players it will be expensive but just small change for the top teams. Then we have to deal with those top teams taking a fancy to our better players. It is getting harder and harder to close the gap.
