Tomorrow it's Portugal vs Poland a dead match in all respects

Suddenly however with relegated Germany only drawing tonight the result of this 'dead' match has implications for their seeding going into the Euros draw on Thursday.

Without going into exactly why, this is it...

(The draw also means Croatia in Pot1 for Thursday's Euro qualifiers draw)

Germany in Pot2 IF Poland draw in Portugal :? (in what's otherwise a dead rubber.)

Poland in Pot2 IF they lose in Portugal and Germany in Pot1

Best available odds, as per Oddschecker:

England 11/5
Portugal 23/10
Netherlands 7/2
Switzerland 9/2

We're actually favourites for an international tournament  That can't have happened since 1996, at least...

I'm guessing none of those four were favourites for their group. Maybe Portugal though, did they have two fairly average teams?

Portugal had Italy and Poland

Tbf England are now ranked 5th in the FIFA world rankings, Croatia 4th, Spain 9th so possibly always in with a decent chance.

Rankings

Belgium
France
Brazil
Croatia
England who may well be challenging fourth since these were last updated

Southgate is now fielding a side significantly different to the one who finished fourth in Russia. Croatia were beaten on Sunday without Kieran Tripper, Ashley Young, Harry Maguire, Jordan Henderson and Dele Alli from the starting line-up in Moscow (Alli came on) - and with a new defensive shape, as well as fresh impetus from Ben Chilwell, Joe Gomez, Ross Barkley and Jadon Sancho.

They've recognised the weaknesses of the three at the back system exposed in the World Cup and the introduction of Chilwell and change to four has seen them move on significantly since the post World Cup home defeat by Spain beating Holland, Spain and Croatia since.

The German way of being a machine like team that wins everything has turned into more of a complacent attitude where they try to just show up, stroll through 90 minutes and win.
I think Loew has gone a bit stale now and should go. He's been there 12 years already. 14 if you count his role as Klinsmann's assistant. Sometimes you just have to change and freshen things up.
