The referee's performance was possibly the most inept I've ever seen, it took incompetence and poor decision making to uncharted depths.
Michel Platini, wasn't particularly renowned for sound decision making - (unless the decision to help himself can be called that) but his policy of giving important and prestigious games to referees without the requisite experience of refereeing on a regular basis at that level, was asking for trouble.
I don't think Ovrebo was an experienced referee at CL level at all, but he set a new low for anything described as simply a 'nightmare match'
