So does it just cancel out because Chelsea have already qualified?
What if the winners have already qualified via their domestic league?
If the UEFA Europa League winners qualify for the group stage via their domestic league, the third-placed team of the fifth-ranked association (France) enter the group stage. This happened last season: UEFA Europa League winners Atlético Madrid qualified via their domestic league so Lyon, third in France, entered in the group stage.

I feel for all of you still residing on Merseyside. I'll be able to avoid any coverage, but you will have it in your faces. I do think people have been a bit ott on the rs thread, I've actually stopped reading it. I can't stand the supporters or the gurning German, but you have to have grudging respect for the team this season. You only have to look at the teams from 3rd to 6th to see how easy it is to drop points. City and the rs have both had outstanding league seasons.

Same here Eggs. Usually this level of nerves is reserved for our own games but today is an exception.
Everything points to this being a routine win for City but I will not be remotely surprised to see some inconsistent refereeing decisions affecting the outcome.
Fortunately City have had plenty of time to prepare, are at home and against an average team. They will be up for this.

You and I know he should never have been let go! Ideal replacement for Jags now but very unlikely to happen.
AFAIK he and his Dad remain very fond of Everton FC and the fans.

I'm looking at next season's top four contenders (not City or Liverpool who are way out in front) and only Spurs look to be at least half well set in their prospects
United - no CL and as has been well documented - total anarchy reigns, go from one crisis to the next and no plan.
Verdict- we could and possibly should finish ahead of them
Arsenal - IF (and its still an IF) they don't win the Europa then no CL, possible real problems with fixing huge problems at the back and ludicrously selling Ramsey - top players want CL. - a difficult project only partially begun
Verdict: we can challenge them
Chelsea - Yes they have CL but a possible transfer ban and Hazard looks set to leave, An absolutely massive hole to fill - they have a highly unpopular manager and may have to rely on loan players returning
Verdict - we could challenge them
Spurs - CL but Erikssen could leave and will be difficult to replace. The new stadium will put some limits on finance and their strict wage structure could or will deter top bracket stars.
Poch has again made noises about having a house built just as the furniture look like leaving - possibly a reference to certain stars and himself looking elsewhere
Verdict - we should get a lot nearer them
Europa League Final? - Chelsea win is best
If as is probable, the Europa final is Chelsea vs Arsenal then a Chelsea win with them already in the CL and no Hazard plus possible transfer embargo suits us far better
Next Season
There could well be three distinct groupings next year
The top two several levels above the rest of the league
The next six - a group of five or six teams comprising the other four of 'the top six' plus ourselves and perhaps Leicester
Followed by the rest with perhaps Watford and Wolves (if they aren't too shot to pieces by their possible Europa campaign) leading, but a significant distance behind the second grouping.
United - no CL and as has been well documented - total anarchy reigns, go from one crisis to the next and no plan.
