Conte with his arm around Messi saying "come play with us and I'll bring in Peter Crouch to lead the line with you"

well no one in the bottom 13 can even touch our top 4. Sevilla has a -6 GD in their league and were pretty much superior for the entire tie.

Which is a reflection of the cowardly tactics Mourinho pulled. That Man Utd squad have more than enough quality to dispatch the current Sevilla side with little bother yet they set up last night like they were against Barcelona. It's probably one of the strangest games I've seen for some time and that includes us away to Southampton mate.

Sevilla putting them out doesn't automatically mean Sevilla would be in second place in the Prem just like Spurs smashing Real Madrid doesn't make them better than the back to back winners. Atletico Madrid got smoked out of a group containing the 5th placed Chelsea and 3rd placed Roma and yet sit comfortably second in the league.

Hopefully I've made the point - The quality of domestic football shouldn't be judged and decided by a game of knockout football. It's a hell of a lot more complicated than that. Just like other sports, styles mean everything.

Despite all the money being thrown around the quality of play has definitely declined. There are a bunch of reasons but I think I big thing is the loan system. The bigger clubs (including to a much lesser extent us) are just using the loan system as a profit center. These players aren't developing and the clubs don't really care as long as the money rolls in. Pep and Conte probably haven't even met let alone know most of whom they have out on loan and why should they, they'll never play a minute for them. Even more than the money disparity IMO its the biggest problem in the prem. Clubs can't sign young players so they are left to bid exorbant fees on utter @#$t. We were linked with Phil $%^ing Jones the other day, who will probably only cost (pardon me while I throw up in my mouth) around 15-20M. You fix the loan system to what its intended for (only allowing 2-3 players out that you are high on but want exp, you know like Lookman) and/or have roster caps and its the strongest league in the world top to bottom.

Chelsea getting smashed love it. @FC sexy xxx Chelsea were a nothing club, before they got their dirty russian blood money pumped into them. Before that, they didn't have anything close to our stature and standing in the game.
I don't agree their success is solely down to the Russian. They were a good team, arguably better than us even before Roman, starting from the late 90s. I would say they started to become very good once Ken Bates starting investing money into players like Gullit, Zola, Desailly, and they got 3rd in 1999, following year they reached Quarters of CL and won FA cup.

And then there were 2.

If City and Liverpool had drawn anyone difficult in the round of 16, would we be talking about a surge in English football? We basically saw Spurs having a good run and United and Liverpool having piss easy groups. So far no English side has beaten a decent team in a 2 leg knock out. Until they do you can’t say the English clubs are back.

City is the only team with a chance. RS will cave next round
