i think coquelin was borderline. the thing is, if it takes 3 or 4 fould for a yellow to be handed for persistant fouling, should it be another 3 or 4 for a red? obviously based on the severity, but i think he just about got it right. i just think most have refs have been too rash with red cards for persistent fouling.

Has anyone actually had a second yellow and been sent off for persistant fouling? Don't remember it.

I did find Howard Webbs comments interesting where he seemed to be saying that referee's do actually take into account that a player has already been booked when deciding whether to give a player another yellow.

Of course they shouldn't according to the rules but it was unusual for a ref to actually admit it on national tv.
