.....that attitude is first class but EFC pay his wages and are responsible for his longer term welfare. Having being deemed unfit to play for his club in a number of lead up games I don't think he should've been in that squad and spent many hours travelling. I'd be saying this regardless of the country he represents.

Who did you expect to withdraw him ? Coleman wanted to play, O'Neill wanted him to play, and since he was fully fit it's likely Martinez also wanted him to get some game time under his belt with the big games coming up. It was a win-win for everyone, notwithstanding the fact that he was obliged to be released under the regulations for releasing players for international games.

It's better for us that he plays anyway (if he's 100% healthy of course). One less game he'll need to get up to full match fitness.
