I also think there's a reluctance of the other players to pass him the ball. I've been watching him and there's a lot of times he shows for the ball and they pass somewhere else.

Yep I agree, noticed him working a lot harder to get the ball earlier on, don't know if he's discouraged by that.

It's also possible he just didn't warm up properly because he didn't expect to be playing first half, he looks winded and saw him keel over to catch his breath inside the first 30

Not much he can do when the tossers around him don't give him the ball. He's got two yard dogs in Milner and Shelvey thinking they are the second coming of Beckham with their Hollywood balls.

Not just Shelvey, he's come deep to take the ball of the centre backs a few times who then punt it out of play trying to find a full back under no pressure.

From what I've seen Barkley hasn't been looking for the ball enough. Needs to work harder, try to run in to space.

I would hope the owl has given a bollocking to Shelvey and Shaw for losing the ball carelessly.
Actually I'd rather he didn't do it to anyone but it would show some consistancy.

I'm not watching, but I'm imagining Ross running from left to right while Milner and Shelvey ping passes to each other going "na na na na na"

I agree but if you aren't getting given the ball you stop running. It's probably just one of those halves. Barkley was pretty awful in the last game but boss in the 2nd half - although that half did start with a goal.

Mentally couldn't be easy for Ross to come on after 1 minute, his head will still be in the dug-out. Anyway England are sh!te at the minute.
