if you're picking your PL best XI at the moment, i'm struggling to think of a defence. kompany gets in there probably because he's a good leader, but you have to choose 3 CB's because of all the attacking talent in the prem ... actually ivanovic definitely gets in there. looking at all the teams and it's hard to think of many candidates.

John Stones as all 3 centre backs.

Seriousy though, prob the 2 you mentioned with Fonte, Reid at West Ham may deserve a shout as well. At the end of an injury free [rest of] season though Stones WILL a the main contender for the team of the season.
 
And his 40 goals in English football?
His goal scoring record in England not good enough for you?
His minutes per goal record at Everton is comparable to Jelavic's, and I think his overall ratio will level off in the coming years.

He was great coming off the bench at West Brom, but I doubt he'd be ever willing to settle for the role of an impact sub again.

There's a lot to like about him, especially personality-wise, but the fee Everton paid for such a limited footballer is staggering.
