Bruce post-match:

He then referred to the Benteke red card vs Spurs the other week. When Mason drew the response from him.
In the end of the day Gaston Ramirez and Christian Benteke should know better, but in both cases Mason and today Vertongen knowingly pushed them to respond 'violently' then acted for the card. Poor sportsmanship, really horrible.
Happy Bruce put the spotlight on it. How many red cards have featured in Spurs games this season?

What did Vertoghen do wrong? He got tripped up, slapped on the ass and just looked up when on the floor as if to say "what was that". Certainly didn't roll around on the floor or grab his face or anything.

Yes he got tripped up. But prior to that he looked down at Ramirez who had just been sandwiched by two spurs players, and pushed his knee right into him.
Snidey tactic, and Ramirez stupidly reacted to it.
Vertongen does have an expression that says "What was that!?!?" - but he's fully aware. He pushed for the reaction.

Ah yeah i see it now. Even more stupid from Gaston then to actually react to such an innocuous move.

"Some guy slightly nudged me with his knee, i think i'll trip him up and slap his ass".

Its crazy to think that Aston Villa off all teams on the run they have had,Could be on the same points total tomorrow as Liverpool, if they win,Liverpool now have the same amount of defeats from 12 prem games in what they had from 38 games last season lol.

Have to laugh at the 'Spurs are cheating to get players sent off' comments. Who was the invisible man that tripped up Barclay by the way? Ha ha

And was widely condemned by blues for that, there is no excuses for being a cheat.

It looks like Vertonghen just nudged him a little bit, it happens. At the end of the day there is going to be little wind ups here and there so see nothing wrong with he did. Ramirez should not have reacted to what was a little nudge.
