Yeah, I’m guessing they were so nervous that
a) they would not do the pre match handshake
b) the potential for there to be retribution on pitch
that they decided to suspend him “whilst investigation continues”

Pretty much what I hate. Some referee have become cowards, because they know VAR will come in, if they misjudged. I still think the power on the pitch should be valued.

Call me cynical, but maybe looking inept without VAR is part of the long game for future manipulation of games.
We have sleep walked into a terrible place where the beautiful game is fast becoming like rigged wrestling spectacle.

You know for the only thing VAR helps in 98% is offside. There it is black and white for enough cases.

For fouls and hand balls for example there is too much room for interpretation. What is a clear and obvious error, what is intentional, what is hazardous... It's different for every person.
