Why wasn't var there to down grade the red card?
Is this not what var is for?

Arsenal have had some absolute howlers go against them this year. That red card for Arsenal is scandalous. Should have punched olivers teeth out for that. pr!ck.
knobbled before they started. Just another * season because of the PSR over rule.Arsenal have had some absolute howlers go against them this year.
The Rice second yellow at Brighton, the Sliba penalty at Brighton, and now this one
He always is in every big game I have seen him play. For a player with his reputation he goes missing an awful lot.Cole Palmer been very quiet
I disagree. I admit it's surprising that it was given but it should be a definite red card for me. That wasn't an attempt to play the play. He just deliberately kicked an opponent. The league need to clamp down severely on tactical fouls. That red card for Arsenal is scandalous. Should have punched olivers teeth out for that. pr!ck.
So give em all? In the opposition half?I disagree. I admit it's surprising that it was given but it should be a definite red card for me. That wasn't an attempt to play the play. He just deliberately kicked an opponent. The league need to clamp down severely on tactical fouls.
It should be a red in my opinion. The way he brought him down was extremely dangerous and could easily have damaged the lads ankle or achilles. Deliberately fouling players miles away from the ball for tactical reasons has no place in the game and I find it completely baffling that every fan just accepts it. It's the same as the "he's entitled to go down nonsense". Football fans just parrot what the moronic ex-player pundits say sheep like and never think for themselves. Honest attempts to win the ball are overly penalised at the moment compared to cynical deliberate fouling and the balance should be re-addressed.Michael Oliver showing himself up again.
Yes, if it's an egregious deliberate foul with no chance of winning the ball it should always be a red where ever it is on the pitch. I don't know why that's controversial. ExactlySo give em all? In the opposition half?
exactly.
The 99.99999 % not dealt with similar?Yes, if it's an egregious deliberate foul with no chance of winning the ball it should always be a red where ever it is on the pitch. I don't know why that's controversial. Exactly
It's inconsistent with the way games are refereed at the moment and I would be livid if it was against us but I think it should be a red. I have rarely seen such an egregious example. Firstly, the ball is miles away and there isn't even the flimsiest pretence that he trying to win it. Secondly, players generally perform a soft non dangerous foul in those situations, like a shirt tug or body check or an ankle clip. They don't stamp on the guys Achilles risking injury. It aggravates a yellow to a red in my opinion because it is basically violent conduct. The 99.99999 % not dealt with similar?
