Tommy Chong
Player Valuation: £70m
Palace equalize.
Problem is not the fees paid but the wages we have offered to some of the recent signings, especially during and before ancelotti's time with us. This will take time to balance as more often than not those players will stay here until the last day of their contract. As a wage bill I suspect we must be close or above newcastle which is crazy when you see the level of the 2 squads.Just look at some of the money poured into that team:
Almiron was a 25 mill forward
Joelinton was over 30 mill
Callum Wilson over 20 mill
Guimaraes over 30 mill
Botman over 30 mill
Isaak (not playing) 60 mill
ASM 16 mill
Willock 25 million
Wood 20 million
Tripper 12 mill
Burn 13 mill
Contrast that with our team yesterday
Gray 1.5
Dominic Calvert-Lewin 2.5
Gordon free
Gueye 2.5
Iwobi 35
Onana 30
Coady loan
Tarks free
McNeill 20
Patterson 12
Myko 16
You get what you pay for! We had a period when we had 30 mill players right through the spine of the team and we were blasting them for massively underperforming but since Ancelotti’s last summer window we’ve had four windows in a row of minuscule expenditure with the sale of most of our top assets James, Digne, Richarlison, Allan (yes it was right for some to go but they’ve not been replaced)
It’s too easy to just blame the manager, the club is trying to patch up an old banger with masking tape whilst other teams are buying sports cars and we keep wanting to swap the driver!

Not really sure what point your making here. It’s the clubs fault, including the current management team, for all of this piss poor recruitment and team management. Again this summer, under Lampard, we have recruited midfielders who can’t pas or retain possession. So again they will need replacing if we are to improve. They also completely neglected bringing in any forwards of worth and instead spunked our budget on Maupay, McNeil and Gueye. All players who are offering very little if nothing at all.
The only two players of any worth are a free transfer and a loan.
But still if you transported some of these Newcastle players, like Wilson and Almiron, into our team i can guarantee you they will stink. Because our manager is not up to it. This truth is evident to anyone who watches us.
Yes we need stability. Yes we need to give a manager time. But this appointment reeks of “anyone but Benitez” and the recruitment debacle this summer will very possibly see us down.
We need a manager who can get a tune out of what we have. Lampard wants players, some he’s bought, to play possession football when they can make simply five yard passes.
Why are you supporting ex blues and not your own team?Brilliant from Arsenal , shame Fulham didn't hang on yesterday but good to see Arteta back on top

Yep, dry run as he’s part of ITV’s team for the World Cup, done a decent job as wellIs that Andros Townsend on commentary on ITV?
More to the point I still wonder why you wanted Pep to do Liverpool a favour yesterday and beat Fulham. Why are you supporting ex blues and not your own team?
He got Iwobi to look like De Bruyne. Coady and Tarko possibly England internationals. Patterson a premiership fullback...
What's not to say he wouldn't get the barcode players playing?
Our levels for a new gaffer is Sean Dyche now. We all know it
They weren’t doing anyone a favour but their own to retain the titleMore to the point I still wonder why you wanted Pep to do Liverpool a favour yesterday and beat Fulham.
That aside Arteta was a top player for us and its nice to see him doing well
