I won over £20 and would’ve got considerably more had the Reds equalised but I desperately wanted United to hold onto the win.

They shouldn't be bothered. It's extra fixtures they don't need, they have zero shot of lifting the thing and the prize money is a joke.
As you go down the pyramid, getting a slice of the gate from one of the big stadiums can have a meaningful financial impact, so it makes sense to care. It's also an opportunity for public exposure that those players will otherwise likely never get.
