For our Brit hosts on this board, the Canadian variety of American football is completely insane, the field is much larger, there are 12 men per side, and the rules are just mayhem- plus the snow- worth checking out on your local wierd-foreign-sports stream if you want to annoy whoever you live with

Edmonton’s field isn’t even big enough to fit the full Canadian field on it. The corners of both end zones are cut off by the running track. The Grey Cup is coming up soon, which is their championship game. If it’s not on a British channel somewhere, it could turn up on some dodgy Internet stream.

It is at least modern artificial turf in Edmonton. More like Young Boys, not like QPR’s sheet of plastic from the 1980s.

Canadian/American soccer is already at a higher level than majority of European nations. Only the top 5 European nations can claim they are better.
Now there's a brave claim that I wouldn't make. Just a few short years ago, I was watching a washed-up Schweinsteiger warm up in Chicago among his MLS teammates, and it was like watching an alien or a superhuman alongside actual humans. The stuff he could just casually do with a soccer ball in warmups was absolutely insane.

Both countries have been on a massively upward trajectory for some time now, but there's still a ways to go.

Italy's system that worked so well up to the Belgium game completely fell apart without Spinazzola as it relied on one fullback, him, playing as a winger while the other stayed back and formed a back three in possession. They can't replicate it because Emerson and Di Lorenzo aren't almost wingers and they keep trying anyway. It is a mess.

It has gotten to the point where winning the Euros as they did, rather fortunately in the end, has put them in danger of missing out on the next tournament. Just a wild turn of events.

At the same time they do still have enough talent to potentially win the tournament next summer with some tweaks should they make it.
I wonder whether they might try and snare Tino Livramento from England
