@TheBigIguana read your thoughts on Villa's system either. Interested in your views on Buendia and Bailey, how highly do you rate them and is Smith getting the best out of the sum of his parts.
How many lines did the ref draw with his shaving foam there? The time it takes to take a free kick around the box gets right on my tits.
Villa seem to be following us in the Big Cash window leading to failure
I like them both as players. I really wanted us to go after Buendia (in hindsight he is a terrible fit with the rest of our squad so a good call not doing it for once) and wouldn't have minded a run at Bailey (who does in theory fit but isn't looking anywhere close to Gray at 10x the price). I don't think their lack of health has been any help either.@TheBigIguana read your thoughts on Villa's system either. Honestly, one like isn't enough, thank you for taking the time to answer. My starting point is that, by and large, Villa have got the recruitment pretty much spot on but are nowhere near getting the benefits on the pitch. I am interested in you putting Palace in a bracket with Villa, do you really see Viera as getting it as badly wrong as Smith?I like them both as players. All that being said I think Smith is having a mare. The system he's settled on is a complete cop out to not have to make a Watkins or Ings choice. It doesn't suit basically anyone else in the squad aside from maybe Matty Cash. You've got McGinn playing in a two which he doesn't have the discipline or raw athleticism to get away with (basically he's a slow Doucoure), Buendia forced into a midfield with no real options on, Bailey not playing and the backline all over the shop.
This is a team with 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 type players and they're trying to reinvent themselves for no reason. If you get into a team where it is a back four with Luiz, McGinn, Buendia, Bailey, pick a striker and pick a final player from Ramsey, El Ghazi and Traore you'll probably be competitive every week and some of those will really shine. I just don't get it. For me this side and Palace are the two where the manager has the most to answer for.
His is different, I think tactically Vieira has been very good, but you can't keep stubbornly playing Jordan Ayew and dropping points because the right side of the pitch carries no threat at all with the only discernable reason being Olise is young. Add in that the experience and know how stuff didn't actually allow Ayew to properly track his man for Arsenal's first goal the other day and you're just making a mess of things. Both sides are flirting with a relegation fight and should not be on the available imo.Honestly, one like isn't enough, thank you for taking the time to answer. So your example is just one player out of how many thousands?
