Is there a reason for the FA Cup ties being played midweek ? cant remember this happening before (other than replays) and it doesn’t help the perception that the FA Cup isn’t as a big deal as it used to be.

Been that way for a few years - came into effect due to the winter break the prem league has made, and due to how teams did in euro comps to help them later rounds the year before the 5th round became a midweek thing
