I don't know that they have enough going forward to chance an early concession. Zidane may figure that 1-0 is a winning scoreline and plan to go for it after he sees how Tuchel plans to actually attack him late on.

Yeah exactly, when people talk about being defensive this is it. They suffocate teams but still carry a threat. They've opened up Madrid more than enough tonight and did last week too. It's annoyingly good.

Which is what I'm getting at with the Spain 2010 comparison - same engine room as Barca, but without Messi there was no swashbuckling. They just kept opponents from doing anything constructive and bided their time to find a chink in the armor.

Remember how defense was the big question mark for Chelsea going into the season after Abramovich bought all those attackers, and how everyone said the back four just wasn't good enough?
