Bruce or Allardyce at Southampton would have them exactly where he does, bang in the middle of the table. Their squad has a few really good players in it, the likes of Ings, Ward-Prowse, Walker-Peters. Even the likes of Redmond, McCarthy and of course Walcott are solid pros. There is absolutely no reason other than crap management that they should be below the likes of Leeds,, Wolves or West Ham (even if they weren't having the season they're having).

I disagree on a lot of those, Ings is a class above everyone else in their squad and his injury troubles make it hard for them. Ward-Prowse is set pieces and averageness, Walker-Peters wouldn't be paid any attention if Spurs didn't bring him through and McCarthy is rapidly approaching being a worse shot stopper than Pickford over the course of the season which takes some doing. The creative players largely stink. Redmond 1 goal 1 assist in 800 minutes for example. Not great.

I think they're exactly in Wolves and Leeds class tbh.
