I’m not saying I find it racist but in the 21st century it probably is now. Maybe people don’t want to be picked out by their skin colour.

It is a simple descriptor. Claiming this as racism makes a mockery of the term. Its like being offended for being called 'the tall guy,' 'the short woman,' 'the ginger bloke,' etc.
