Clear and obvious is such a weird standard. It's like the VAR isn't determining if the call was wrong but instead how wrong it was and if it reaches some standard of wrongness that allows them to actually make it right. Just weird.

This is what is in danger of turning VAR into a farce.

It's either a penalty or it isn't. If VAR looks at it and decide they would give a penalty then it should be irrelevant what the referee's decision is. VAR should be binary in it's decision making.

The "high threshold" nonsense has basically reduced VAR to a tool that is only intervening to implement the awful and arbitrary new handball rule.
