You never know, he may have seen something different and decided it wasn't his priority. Maybe he thinks he will move Pienaar will be moved into midfield and he knows he wants to be starting Barkley.

This said i do believe we need a ball winning midfielder such as Diame. Maybe he is looking at some? We will never know.

I do think we need a new combative midfielder to add competition and depth but I am a believer in if someone becomes available at a great price that will improve the team then we should be looking to add them. This lad looks and sounds very promising, especially if Martinez wants to adopt a back 3. I look on it as sometimes I go shopping knowing I need a new pair of Jeans, but I may end up buying a top instead due to it being a great price and something I can get a lot of use out of.

player for a player plus cash deal are so rare these days in football. Amazing though, because they are quite commonplace here in the states with our yank sports (baseball, basketball, etc.).

Heitinga back to Ajax though is one that I could easily envision. He has stated before that he would like to return to the Amsterdam side. Then again, he also said he wanted to play in a new/different country before his career was over, so who knows really. *shrugs*
