2025/26 Tim Iroegbunam

We definitely got the better side out of our PSR deal with Villa. Nothing against Dobbin but I don’t see him having a Premier League career whereas I can definitely see Tim having one.
It seems circumstance was on our side, we had and have room in midfield for him, whereas villa had and have quite a few midfielders. Effectively they instant upgraded with Onana and we've brought Tim Iroegbunam on and look like reaping that benefit. Let's not go tearing any rotor cuffs by slapping ourselves on the back though just yet, there's plenty still to do and there'll be mistakes and bad games along the way.

Just coming in with more Tim propaganda:

No one in the prem - among all midfielders - is doing it like him when it comes to winning the ball. Highest percentage and second highest volume is crazy.

If he permanently unlocks this new level of quality in-possession too that he showed against Forest then I'm officially excited

We definitely do. But it's up to Iroegbunam to keep the new signing out of the team.
Garner, Armstrong, Tim, Rohl, KDH can all play in that role there's 5 options do we really need more especially if the long term plan is to move dibling into CAM with grealish on the left and ndiaye on the right then garner is the guaranteed starter and you have 4 players competing for that other central midfield role

If we have any aspirations of playing in Europe every year and finally winning something then we'll need better options than those.

It'll take time to rebuild the squad, but I wouldn't want any of them, perhaps with the exception of KDH, to be starting games for us every week in 2 years time.

tim, rohl and armstrong could develop into top class midfielders in the next few years

Improving every game. Bar the Newcastle game, he has consistently shown he can manage in midfield.

Great to see him running more with the ball and being more progressive up the pitch too.

We might have a player here
just rewatched the forest game and round about the 68-70th min, Tim won possession deep in our own half and started an attack, then received the ball back in the oppo box where he tried to bulldoze his way past 2 players, lost it, which enabled forest to counter - but within a min, he was back in our half covering the defense.

truly jaw dropping levels of physicality.
