Tim Howard's penalty saving record

I dont think I would be putting my head on the block if I say that Martyn and Tim Howard have been our best 2 keepers in the premiership, in my opinion. Tim does hate letting any goal in, I like that. He doesn't even like it when the boys let shots come in!!
Nev was in a different league though.

I keep thinking Turner could be a great keeper for us in time. Feel free to tell me if Im wrong!

The poor old Howard bashers are back at it again. Give it a rest that was bloody Ronaldo taking the spot kick and give him credit he went the right way. I suppose you missed the other snap shots saved and parried by him yesterday. If he wasn't here we would be relegation fodder with Richard Wright between the sticks. Think about that the next time you all want to take a go at him. Every week it's something different about the poor fella. I understand he isn't in the same level as Southall or Martyn in most peoples eyes but he is the best we have at the moment so we need rally behind him. Truth of the matter is we wouldn't be sixth with all those 1-0 wins if he wasn't at least decent. Maybe Moyes should make a cheeky 10 million bid for Given.

He used to be a bin man in my town ages ago i think lol

a lot of players that are class at pks aren't as good in other areas. lehmann was superb at stopping penalties, and was excellent in many other ways as well, but his ability during regular play was nowhere near as good as his penalty stopping ability.

on the other hand, petr cech is undoubtedly one of the greatest goal keepers in the world, and while he has had a couple great penalty saves, compared to other keepers who he is otherwise better than, he's not the greatest at penalties.

howard's penalty save (against yakubu no less) was class, and honestly, when a player steps up to the spot you should expect them to score, think about how much we rag on our players when they don't. penalties are only a small part of the game, and i'd rather have a keeper that is world class, thats right undoubtedly world class in every other area, even if he isn't the greatest at penalties.

honestly i'd have moyes over any keeper outside of van der sar, cech, and reina.
