Interesting to see Butland flapping at a last minute cross at WHam that could have lost them the game.Reading this thread I thought it was only Howard who did that.
A pretty simplistic comparison do you not think? Overall Butland has been in form this season, therefore less likely to be criticised for an error.
Howard on the other hand has not been in form at all, and personally I'd suggest he is now regularly suspect in many aspects of his game.
I'm not suggesting our current defensive frailties are
all his fault, but I do think he is becoming a significant aspect of it.
Arguably a good keeper underpins their defence through their communication, management and performance: this instils confidence.
Howard far too often flaps at balls, or simply doesn't come out at all being static on his line. Nor does he effectively communicate with his defence.
Therefore no wonder we're conceding from so many set pieces or crosses. Obviously the defenders have aspects of culpability, but it's mainly Tim.
That's not being sensationalist, overly critical or part of some vendetta against him. It's just the facts and I was a long time admirer of Tim.
