All or any really any credibility has been lost by that 'stats expert'

What a tosser desperate to get his wrong point across.

Honestly, it's hard work trying to show people how bad Howard has become when people on your side of the argument can't get the stats right. I might become a Howard lover simply because everyone on this side of the fence has terrible game!

It's like they all keep throwing the ball into their own net..

Yet again doesnt move his feet, he doesnt dive so much as fall sideways. He's an utter liability.

Today ironically showed up more than any other just how much Martinez completely refusal to drop Howard is costing us. We were up against Norwich who have dropped their long term reliable old keeper for an inexperienced kid, and despite him not having any real saves to make, he has commanded his area and been decisive. He has made 3 brave saves at the feet of Kone and Barry, that Howard will never make because his feet are glued to his goalline. Yes the defence has its problems too, but our biggest problem is getting rid of a total liability of a goalkeeper who does nothing but induce sheer panic in the back four and give them double the work to do.
He also let a cross sail right through the six yard box for an easy header on the back post (a couple of times, actually, but only one cost them a goal). You know, the kind of thing Tim Howard gets ripped apart for.

lol

That's pretty much why I jumped ship. I forget who it was against, but Stones made a blunder and gift-wrapped a goal to the opposition, who slotted in from a standard one-on-one situation. It was Howard's fault of course, and from there on in, I noticed that people were able to attribute the blame to Howard for every goal we conceded in the most wondrous ways regardless of how good the goal, or whose fault it actually was. Come to us Elong, always a place for what you got to give.

That's wrong, too. Howard's definitely made saves when we had a lead -- two against Southampton, one against Chelsea, three against Sunderland, three against Aston Villa.

Sure, stats can definitely say whatever you want them to if you just make them up without actually bothering to see if they're accurate.

the fact that you can count how many saves he's made 16 games into the season shows how poor he is.

Not his fault today, but imagine what teams' gameplan would be vs us if we had a keeper comfortable with dealing/coming for crosses. Teams don't create anything from open play vs us and the only thing it is is crosses into the box. Howard and martinez encourage them to do this, and have done for a while now, i think with robles, this would be much less of an issue. Even though he'll flap at the odd one, he still makes the right decisions of when to come and when not to, and usually executes it right.

The thing is robles will struggle as well if we fail to close down crosses and attack balls in the air. The replay on the goal today was embrassaing. Mori, stones, and kone were all right there and they didn't even jump. Mori may have given it a little hop but stones and kone were flat footed. Our lack of aerial ability is shown all over the pitch. That being said I'd only count mori and rom as "aerial threats" in that 11

I've stated my position on Howard a few times now, it's obvious to everyone Dougie included that Howard needs replacing, and he's past his best. He had some good years, he had some bad years, under performed, over achieved. He's Everton personified.

If we want to progress, we need a new keeper, but that could be set of a lot of things both on and off the field.

which is why need a tall keeper. i think he's very commanding from crosses, wouldn't have helped today, but in the last few games where howard has just stood and watched crosses floating around the 6 yard box, that's where robles will have snuffed the danger, exactly how he did vs boro (our only clean sheet in what seems a while now). The defence is not to blame today, we should have been 4-0 up at HT, we were utterly wasteful in front of goal and again luck deserted us vs those scabby gits, who will no doubt be back in the championship again next season.

i didn't even bother watching the replay.

Hey, hey, I'm in agreement with you. I imagine Dougie is too, the time for a good new keeper is upon us, but we are merely railing against those who can't see past their hatred and Anti-American bile to see that Howard has been okay between the posts for us this season. A balanced, unbiased opinion is all Team Tim ask for.

One thing that does annoy me is the pro American bias from the yanks on here, no offence, I think Chris Wood is underrated and the All Blacks are the greatest team in the history of anything, it's hard not to be patriotic, but they do post more in this thread than the Leon Osman one for example.

Americans are ace in general though!

Ossie thread isn't always top of the forum;) I'm pretty frequent in the catalan clown thread as well. Just get annoyed by the over the top extremism rhetoric on the forum. Every player and manager is either ace or one of the worst to wear the shirt(shown by the lukaku thread over the past year). Fact of the matter is we have some very talented players and some bang average players. Tim falls in the latter category right now. He hasn't had a great season by any means but he's not been nearly as gash as people are acting. Just been bang average. We're struggling as a defensive unit as a whole, the martinez thread is filled with people fuming about his defensive tactics, our lack of work on corners on both ends. Despite this the thread is filled with people acting as if Howard is undermining masterful defensive performances despite the fact we've given up very frequent open headers and the 2nd most shots on target in the league going into today. Tim will be replaced in the summer but regardless of our keeper we are too lax defensively.

I doubt Elong means you mate.
