Tim Howard

He's gone in the summer. An MLS team could in theory sign him now (their transfer window just opened a few days ago) but it makes absolutely no sense for him to leave before our season ends. I'm happy to admit that Robles is a better choice in goal than Howard now, but if Joel gets injured you'd have to be utterly blinded by hatred not to think Howard would be a better replacement than Jindrich Stanek or Russell Griffiths or Mateusz Hewelts or whoever the hell our current third choice keeper might be.
Turncoat a few weeks ago it was our defence letting shed full of goals in not your Timmy!lol

Still think Howard's been better this season than people give him credit for. Robles has improved immensely and fully deserves to be starting, but he has benefited from playing behind our most defensively solid lineup for the last five matches. How many times did Howard get to play with Coleman, Jagielka, Funes Mori, Oviedo, Barry, McCarthy, Cleverley, and Lennon?

Still say one of the reason's is that Robles instills more confidence in the back four than Howard does when he's playing, they crap themselves when Howard is behind them.

No, he really hasn't. The only time he's even played with at least six of those eight in front of him was in the clean sheet against Tottenham.

Joel's been great recently, but he's benefited immensely by Martinez putting his most defensively-oriented lineup in front of him. The Lennon/Cleverley combination out wide has especially made a huge difference -- we aren't giving up nearly as many dangerous crosses as we used to, since they track back so much more effectively than Kone and Deulofeu.

The world outside of America has seen how utter donkey wank starjumps has been for 18 months now, let it go Friend. Worst keeper in the league barely MLS standard

Credit for us being 11th instead of in the top 4 yes!

Dont you see its noticeable that the defenders have more confidence in Robles?

Were playing a higher line i think and also they are happy using Robles whereas with howard he was the last option...

Also looks like far more cameraderie there too.

Sure. Robles is a better choice than Howard now. He's certainly a big factor in the fact we've only allowed one goal in the last five, probably the biggest. A good chunk of our defensive improvement has to have something to do with the fact that Martinez has actually put out a lineup of outfield players who look to defend, though. Howard never got that advantage this season.

Howard had the advantage of playing when the team had confidence. Then he took a long slow dump all over that confidence.
When did the team have confidence? They started getting booed halfway through the first match of the season, and haven't yet won two league matches in a row. This team has looked nervous since the 3-6 Chelsea loss at the beginning of last season.
