Tim Howard

You do not get the high ground here, lad.

Martinez should have dropped him a year ago. Anyone doubting he'd do so now had bags of evidence and painful memories to back that up.
This isn't about Martinez's belated decision making; it's about some posters on here being ridiculed by others for suggesting weeks ago that the manager had indeed dropped Howard. Turns out that was right.

Just something to bear in mind for the future maybe when other claims might be rejected out of hand.

Also joel has had another 12 months to improve. Ig may well have been that in training Martinez saw this and has timed the changeover to suit Joel who now looks quite good...

If Joel continues like this then it will have done him no harm at all. He may have done well last season but then dropped off a cliff...we dont know.

i think its a case of Martinez sacrificing the pts short term to benefit us long term. A clear philosophy based upon his signings of young stars and short term stop gaps.

As for Howard, doesnt the MLS window happen or extend into march or when is the time we can punt him there?

Guess he will go on a free.

If Howard were halfways decent this season he'd still be playing. I think RMs hand has been forced by Howard's appalling collapse and Robles is the only option.

He's good (Robles), but even yesterday showed a few signs of misjudging crosses that a better team would have converted. We need another one in the summer to vie with Robles.

He's gone in the summer. An MLS team could in theory sign him now (their transfer window just opened a few days ago) but it makes absolutely no sense for him to leave before our season ends. I'm happy to admit that Robles is a better choice in goal than Howard now, but if Joel gets injured you'd have to be utterly blinded by hatred not to think Howard would be a better replacement than Jindrich Stanek or Russell Griffiths or Mateusz Hewelts or whoever the hell our current third choice keeper might be.
