Tim Howard

Howard shouldn't start another game this season, can't believe I'm writing this after how good he has been in the past but it seems he's gone on one season too long. In fact after his heroics at the world cup, has he been the same player?

In that Guardian article though Martinez seems to be saying that Howard is past it and that's why the fans have been having a go at him

I don’t think it is a case of disrespect. It’s just the short-term memory and assessment of what you have seen – that happens, I don’t think that’s being disrespectful.

I think it’s important that Tim doesn’t feel that all his good work has been forgotten. That doesn’t take away from the fact that we are emotional watching our football teams, we are judging players for what they are doing and the only action that matters is the last one. That has happened not only to Tim but any player who has represented a big era at a football club. Tim won’t be the last.

Stones has had anything but a free ride? Loads on here acknowledging the results have improved since both Howard and Stones haven't been playing. The difference is that Stones will likely improve his defending as he's only young and still learning where as really Howard will only get worse now. I don't think any evertonian would pick our starting lineup for the next game with either player in it though even if both fit.
Basically you're sticking the boot into old folk here, there's a word for that!

Martinez is talking nonsense about the fans showing him respect, yes they should and they would if he would of packed in at his peak a while back, if he would of taken him out of the firing line ages ago this wouldn't of happened, Matrinez is basically hanging him out to dry.

Exactly. Howard still deserves the respect for being an excellent keeper over the past for 8 years or so. Only the last year and a half he has faltered.

  • Howard won't play tomorrow
  • We'll beat WBA handily
  • Climb the table another place and be a few points off 5th
  • Those who hate the manager will be piped down at last
so what happens in your eyes, if. He doesn't play tomorrow, due to injury.

Robles keeps another clean sheet, and we win.

But then the week later howards declared fit for next PL game and starts?
