Ive said multiple times throughout both threads mate that i think RM is teriffied of the reaction he could get if he drops him. His ego is huge and TH was one of the ones backing RM last season when Eto'o and Distin turned into bellends. If dropped i think TH would kick up a similar fuss and RM is scared of that i feel.

Agree with everything there, I've said it before too. He's definitely the type.

If true he's not cut out to be a manager. That reaction is going to be quite common with the divas who play football

I always remember someone coming on here ages ago saying that Howard kicks off about not getting appearance fees and stuff.

No idea if true but I can totally beleive it.

I hope you're wrong, but even if you aren't Tim's time here is nearly over. Robles has done nothing wrong and must be given a chance to establish himself, and it won't take long to find out for sure.

As for signing another goalie, what's wrong with the kid who's been on the bench while Joel's been in? We need to find that out, too, before
we start spending money for a number two.

That'll explain the ridiculous 4 year contract too then. Martinez really could do with knocking him down a peg or two you know

i will be irked if we just release him rather than sell him at a premium to the MLS, where he'll have value as a mascot for people who haven't watched footie since 2014 and still think he's the best in the world

I think in all honesty that was why TH got a 4 year contract after the WC. He played relatively well in RM's first season. Had a good WC and a spotlight game where he made a number of saves. Not all great but there were definitely some decent saves. I genuinely believe that the thinking was he plays two years and we sell him to the MLS for a decent transfer. Until TH was sold, he would serve as a marketing face for expansion into the US. Especially for the casual observers. The problem was he has had 18 months of on the whole, dreadful performances. I remember two decent games this year. Spurs and City Away, there might be one home game I have a vague memory of where he made some good stops.

But now the people that run the MLS teams don't feel the need to pay a premium transfer for him. The people that run those teams do know soccer/football. He is old and past it for the EPL but would be decent for the MLS - (look a the dreadful keeping in the MLS championship game this year - Rob Green-esque howler). They will understand that they don't have to pay Millions for him. The MLS team gets the marketing bump for those local fans that don't follow Everton closely to understand he is past it - but don't have to pay for it. Everton I think genuinely want him off their books this summer and are prepared to let him go for free if they can't get something. An article the other day in one of the British papers is setting the stage for this. I am not expecting a fee - if it does it will be minimal.

I think RM knows he is gone - perhaps he was hoping that he could come good to recoup some $. He just doesn't slate players in the media to ruin any value they "MIGHT" have. It makes no sense and will achieve nothing other than to placate angry fans but you can't manage that way.
