Tim Howard

Butland was available for £6m in the summer. Of course we can't afford a De Gare level keeper but a just a decent keeper would make a massive difference. Howard makes too many mistakes that cost us points. I've played in teams with bad goalies, they effect the whole team.
Butland was not available for £6 million in the summer; don't be ridiculous. His backup (who is six years older) was sold for £8 million -- why would Butland have possibly cost less?

Yeah your right, my bad but he move to stoke not that long ago and I think we were linked with him. The points remains that we could get a significant upgrade on Howard without having to splash that much cash. He's been very poor for quite a while and we should have addressed the problem early. Begovic wouldn't have been a bad signing.

He actually wouldn't mate, as bad as Howard is and he is pretty bad in my opinion, I would have been gutted if Begovic was his replacement. We can do much better.

People keep saying that, but I'm yet to be convinced. I'm sure we could find someone who will be good in a few years for not that much. Butland moved to Stoke at the age of 19 and spent two years getting loaned to Championship sides and not exactly setting the world on fire. Courtois only cost Chelsea something like £6 million, but he was only 18 at the time. I'm all for getting some young hotshot prospect, but that doesn't really solve anything in the short term. The guys who are ready to come in and immediately be a clear upgrade over Howard are not going to come cheap -- mainly because most of those guys are guaranteed starters for their current clubs. If we can find a situation like Chelsea had last season with two first choice keepers (or like Barcelona has this season with Bravo and ter Stegen), then we might get lucky and not have to pay some exorbitant transfer fee, but we'd still have to convince one of those keepers to join us.

We've all got opinions about who's good enough, who'd come here and how much he'll cost, but what's unarguably clear
is that Martinez is going to have replace Tim soon, whether he likes it or not. I'm not sure that he's turned 37 yet, but if not
he must be mighty close.
I don't think 6,8,or 10 million is a lot these days, so if he's not looking already he'd better get started.

Think martinez will go for a replacement in the summer. Due to our limited funds he's been slowly overhauling the squad. Summer 2013 he bought mccarthy, kone and loaned del rom and barry. Summer 2014 Rom besic and Barry, summer 2015 brought in Mori, del,Lennon, and cleverly. He probably figured those positions needed addressing more urgently and could get more time out of howard. You could argue we need help or cover at most positions besides RW and LB. Rom, coleman , and Barkley could all use decent cover, no one's nailed down the left side, etc. Think martinez will look for a left sided attacker of some sort and a new keeper in the summer. Doesn't seem to like spending in Jan and can't see many teams selling their "top class" keeper midseason

2:15 and 4:08 wind me up to this day, especially the latter. What on earth is he doing?

I was doing my best to forget that Newcastle game. It was like the Norwich, Palace and Bournmouth game rolled into one. Imperious first half performance yielding one goal. Conceded dreadful
Equaliser moments into the second half through dreadful keeping. Two or three wrongly disallowed goals. Deserved winner with two minutes to go and again we let them equalise. It was the first day of a holiday with my family and much as I try to be philosophical these days Everton results still have huge bearing on my mood and my general out look on life.

I remember this game, he literally cost us 3 points on his own the absolute weapon! This and Palace last season stick out as 2 of his worst performances. Sad thing is he's had loads of others since then as well.
One of the games I went to and took a friend who had never been before. Agree with you there, star jumping madness I have no idea
