Tim Howard

Valdes will be on silly wages and is a short term solution.

I guess so, but it depends what kind of mindframe he is in. Sounds familiar to say it, but he has a chance to join a team on the brink of something great. It's no secret that Howard will be on his way out soon, and Valdes just needs to weigh up his future. We could get 5 years out of him at a critical stage in our development.

That's it really. Not sure where the Schmeical shouts have come from...

But for me its either spend a fortune on Butland knowing he can play in the league, fit into the core group (giving us also a possible England spine of Butland/Stones/Barkley) and basically limiting risk.

Or spend under £10mil on a similar foreign keeper who may/may not turn out better but with a lot more risk involved.

At this point with all the positivity i think we should go for Butland. What happens if someone else drops points while adapting to the league?

don't think anyone said that tbf. people have just said we should look to sign a keeper from continental Europe as it's likely to be better value for the money which would allow Martinez more money to bring in cover in other positions. The reason stoke and leicester are being discussed is because Butland and Schlemiel are being proposed as replacements. We should buy a new keeper in the summer, no ones arguing against that. The debate seems to be if it's worth it to overpay another prem club or buy a GK from outside the league.

After McCarthy and Barry he was probably our next most influential player today, made some vital stops a crucial times in what was very difficult conditions for a goalkeeper.
He barely reacts to anything to be honest, totally watched their first goal go in. Just [Poor language removed] jump and palm it away.
