So Howard's stats are better than Buttheads?

What some people think should be our £20m saviour.

@Zatara
dougie I'm with you on Timmy but that stat shows Butland's done slightly better.... Expected goals for Tim is 16.38 and he's allowed 15 while Butland's expected goals is 15.5 and hes allowed 12. Stats can be used conveniently either way. Don't think Butland's the answer, especially at 20m (he'd be 10m if he wasn't English). Would prefer to look to Contential Europe for a new keeper in the summer. However as Serenity pointed out we're giving up way too many shots and attempts on goal

Just to throw some fuel on the fire, the top keeper in the prem at the moment (Cech), in the same game this week was beaten at his near post, beaten to a cross, beaten while standing on his 6 while a shot came in from the top of his box, and beaten from distance.

haha amazing, all keepers make the same mistakes Howard makes, OK maybe not as often, even Manuel Neuer messed up in the reverse fixture in London.

The biggest problem I have with Howard is not that he can let a goal in at his near post or be rooted to his goal line - every keeper can - it's the frequency of these errors that's alarming. You'd expect it in a young goalkeeper who has time to iron it out but at 36? It's like he's an extra from Space Jam.

Exactly this.

All keepers make errors. Neuer has made a couple this season I've seen.

But with Howard it's just how often it happens.

Or, the stats say Howard is pretty much bang average which isn't good enough to push on, but also not bad enough for the abuse he gets...

Its gone to stage of how many we are going to concede, i mean we conceded two last week but scored six, which glosses over things - not that i think he was praticularly at fault for either with a glaring mistake but he just seemed so shocked and unreactive when anyone tries to score, hes a keeper ffs.

Are they really that frequent, though, or are people just looking more closely for them because they don't like him? He's conceded 15 goals and made 42 saves. That's not world class, sure, but it also doesn't suggest he falls apart any time the ball comes near him.

Ye
I think the arrogance and utter delusion he showed in his pre Sunderland game interview wound me up more than any of his shocking displays.
Yes never talked up Robles last season or this season after Robles had good games - Just I never worry about my place jargon, what does he have to do to get dropped other than getting an injury?
