The reason being that once again he was conscious of the possibility of crashing into the goal post. Look at him glance towards the post just as he takes off.

He is no longer good enough sadly. And tonight he continued his remarkable ratio this season of every other shot on target going into the back of his net.
That's quite a stat for a premier league "number 1" keeper.

That first goal gets worse every time you watch it, hes literally a yard or 2 from the post, most keepers take a step to the side and have a comfortable catch. Its harder to let it go in than it is to save
Just watched the 3 min replay on the official site for the first time and was coming to comment on it.
He was never the tallest keeper. But now he has lost some pace it seems and isn't commanding at all. Joel would have least got a hand on that header with his bigger size and faster speed.
Jesus Roberto. Every bloody game it something else. Give the kid a game!

I must admit I did really like when we conceded the second how he jumped straight up IIRC it was Stones be picked up and pushed all the lads back out into position and made sure heads didn't drop.

Whilst we do have to take responsibility for our performances it is important we don't drop out heads, we do have to jump back in the horse and turn it around.

You can't ever fault Howard's leadership and that's one thing he does have over Joel, he's a leader and barks orders at the defence.

I'd rather at 2-0 down against Stoke heads did drop to be honest. If heads don't drop after that performance they obviously don't care.

And as for Howard's leadership I'm not sure. I think the defenders just reckon he's nuts and don't trust him. There's a difference between being a leader and just shouting loud.

Costing goals every game practically. How can his defenders have any confidence?
Manager once again doesn't have the bottle to drop him.

First goal just looks weird. I really want to not blame him as I already do that enough as it is, but I can't help but feel a keeper shouldn't be conceding from a header 15 yards out regardless of how good it is.

He's been a good servant to the club but now is the time to let go and give Joel the green light.
MLS would be a great place for him to retire with our thanks.

i genuinly don't think he sees it. nt many people do seem to see it. all i ever hear is how howard is one of the best in the league etc. he never has been, he's always been a liability and i just don't think martinez sees how bad he is as opposed to bottle.

not a floating header not. understand if it was bullet into the top corner. robles would have saved it no doubt because of his reach.

the ball hit the far post, what is he doing like? it's wood/soldado all over again isn't it? the guy has hit it where he's standing and he's dived out of the way of it in the wrong direction.

3 shots on target to our 5, we lose 2-0.

No keeper should be getting beat by a header from 15-18 yards. His starting position was all wrong and he was heavy legged getting off the ground. I don't blame him really for the second. He had to commit to one side. But he isnt good enough any more...not sure Joel is the answer either though.

In any case it shouldn;t have mattered. We've just been beaten by a side containing Jonathan friggin Walters and Steven NZonzie.

That is just staggering that any football Manger can't see when a keeper is costing you goals every match practically. Just staggering.
We haven't kept a clean sheet since Howard's return have we? And after a run of clean sheets under Robles.
Bloody staggering to me...

Don't you want to find that out after that run of performances and clean sheets when Howard was out?

Would probably have got a hand on it anyways....
Jut seems every game now GK issues or non saves are costing us
